It just simply means you shouldn't care about the number because nobody cares about it either (unless your goal is to beat Facebook or YouTube!)
Plus, who said good traffic means good content? I bet half of the 17,223,699 that are ahead of you are mere crap and 95% of the other half is kinda' crap!
Thanks for the sweet words. You're right about the crap part (not assuming my blog is the best out there) but I do get astonished by the number of followers I find on some vain blogs I've come across...
